New routes of COSCO Group in Central America "skip" the Panama Canal

 

China Ocean Shipping Group has opened new routes in Central America, which will use rail transport instead of through the Panama Canal and the goods will be shipped from the Pacific to the Atlantic port terminals.

 

General manager of Panamanian shipping company of COSCO Zhang Fucun told the reporters of Xinhua News Agency that, the first class ship "COSCO Sydney" has arrived the biggest harbor in Panama-Balboa. According to reports, the new CUE service (Panama, Mexico and the Caribbean routes) is operated by COSCO independently and send a group of container every week, which start from Shanghai, across Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen saline, Lasa Luo of Mexico and Hong Kong to the Pacific coast of Panama Balboa port and the entire process takes 22 days. COSCO arrange seven teams of container to service regularly in turn.
