Chinese enterprises "running" into the top 500 U.S.-American companies performing the worst (1)

"Fortune" magazine of the United States published the world's top 500 companies list in 2008 on its Web site on the evening of July 9. The top three enterprises in this year have not changed much compared with last year, namely Wal-Mart, ExsonMobil and Royal Dutch Shell. Chinese enterprises have created the best historical record and the number of listed enterprises reached 33 (25 from Mainland,4 from Hong Kong, 4 from Taiwan). Among them, Chinese Petrochemistry ranks the highest as No.16.

U.S. companies is really depressing from the list this year. The number of listed companies decline from last year's 162 to 153, which is the worst performance in 10 years. Among them, U.S. financial enterprises struggling in the credit crisis suddenly dropped, like Washington Mutual, and the U.S. national financial company which has been merged by Bank of America dropped to No. 70. U.S. companies of consumer goods are also affected. Casual clothing retailer-GAP and Nike even is squeezed out from the list. In addition, a lot of companies from the "biggest losers list" are directly affected by oil price hikes and the impact of the U.S. economic recession, such as Ford Motor, Delta Airlines, General Motors and Coca-Cola, and so on.
